USA / International Arm Wrestling Championships on March 22, 2003
Saturday, March 22, 2003 --- Awesome feats of strength, explosive raw energy and merciless demonstrations of
power will go on display in Gotham City on
Saturday, March 22, 2003 as
The New York Arm Wrestling Association and
Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum join forces to present New York City’s most
prestigious ALL PRO USA - International Arm Wrestling Championship. The NYC Big Apple Grapple XXVI will be held,
at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum at Pier 86 - 12th Ave. and 46th
Street on Manhattan’s West Side. Weigh
in and registration begins for men and women in thirteen weight classes at 10
am, start time is 12:30 pm, finals at 3:30pm and award ceremony at 4:30
pm. Entry Fee is $30, which includes an
event T-shirt, and admission to the museum. General Admission is $13 for adults
and $6 for children. The Proud Title Sponsor is NUTRO NATURAL CHOICE DOG
& CAT FOOD. Other proud sponsors include, GOODYEAR JAMAICA TIRE & AUTO
SERVICE CENTER and BIOFREEZE PAIN RELIEVER.
“It’s
the NYC MARATHON of Arm wrestling," said, Gene Camp founder and president
of the 26 year-old New York Arm Wrestling Association (NYAWA). “The NYC Big
Apple Grapple XXVI will draw contestants from all over the USA and
Internationally from far away as TURKEY, GERMANY, RUSSIA, KOREA, and BRAZIL.
The event will also feature Last year’s NYC Big Apple Grapple XXV Pro champions,
The 2002 Empire State amateur champions and NYC’s King and Queen of Arms-Jason
Vale and Cynthia Yerby.
“Winning in NYC is like winning the OSCAR of
Arm Wrestling,” said Cynthia Yerby from Wolf, Oklahoma. Yerby is a seven time world champion and holds
more the 30 other arm wrestling titles.” Among the many arm wrestling awards
that I have won, none can compare to being NYC’s Queen of Arms. I won the NYC
Queen title three years in a row and I’m excited and hope I can do it again
this year”. Empire State Champion Dina
Fortuna from Wading River, LI, NY. Said, “I hope to pull off an upset this
year.”
Two-time National Champion Jason Vale from Bellerose, Queens will
try to hang on to the NYC King of Arms title that he won last year in a
stunning major upset victory over world champion Jerry Cadorette from So.
